Reading your Tap & Scan analytics
Every tap of a chip and every scan of your QR code is counted, so you can see how much your links are being used, how people reach them, and which destinations get the most attention. This lives right on the Tap & Scan page, below where you set your live link.
Before you begin
- You need access to the Tap & Scan area (an admin, or someone who has been given that area). View-only access is enough to read every number here.
- Numbers start filling in as soon as people begin tapping and scanning. A brand-new setup shows zeros until the first open.
Find the Analytics section
Open Tap & Scan. In the dashboard menu, click Tap & Scan (the NFC icon), then scroll down to the Analytics heading. Everything below it, down to the Recent list, is your activity.
People and Opens
Two tiles sit side by side at the top of the Overview:
- People is the number of different people who tapped or scanned in the time range. Someone who taps five times still counts as one person.
- Opens is the total number of times your link was opened, counting every single tap and scan.
So Opens is always equal to or higher than People, and the gap between them tells you how often the same folks come back.
Choose a time range
Click the range menu next to the Overview heading to change the window every number is measured over. Your choices are Last 24 hours, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Last 90 days, and Last 12 months. It opens on Last 30 days, and your pick refreshes the tiles, the two breakdowns, and the weekly chart together.
How they arrived
This card splits your opens between the two ways people reach your link:
- Tap is an open from one of your NFC chips.
- QR scan is an open from your printed or on-screen QR code.
They show as one bar, with a count and a share (percentage) for each, so you can see at a glance whether your building is more of a tap crowd or a scan crowd. Only opens that go through your tap link are counted here, not people who visit your church page directly.
Most opened
This card ranks your destinations by total opens, with the busiest at the top and a bar showing how each compares to the leader. Each open is grouped by where your link pointed at the time it happened, so if you switched your live link partway through the range, those opens stay filed under whatever was live when the person tapped. If nothing has happened yet, you will see "No opens yet."
Recent
The Recent list shows your newest taps and scans, most recent first. Each row names the person when they are signed in (or reads "Someone" when they are not), what they opened, whether it came in as a Tap or a QR scan, and the time it happened in your church's time zone. When the person is one of your people, you can click their name to open their profile.
Good to know
- A weekly chart appears once you have activity. After about two weeks of taps, a Weekly activity chart shows up at the top of Analytics, with a toggle to view People or Opens week by week.
- Give your counts a sense of scale. In Tap & Scan settings (the gear icon at the top right of the page), the Average attendance field lets you record a rough head count for your gathering. It is a reference point for reading your People and Opens against the size of your room. An estimate is fine, and you can leave it blank.
- Bots do not count. Automated crawlers are filtered out, so your numbers reflect real people.
