Show a map of where your church meets
You can add a map near the bottom of your public church page so first-time visitors can see exactly where you meet and tap through for directions. The map uses the service location you already set in your page header, so there is nothing new to type.
Before you begin
- You need permission to edit your church's settings (an admin role).
- Your service time and location should have a real, mappable address. If it does not yet, this article shows you how to fix it.
Step-by-step
- Open the Church editor. In the left sidebar, click Church. This opens the page editor on the Church tab, with a live phone preview of your page on the right.
- Scroll to the Map section. It sits near the bottom of the editor and reads "Show a map of where you meet, near the bottom of your page."
- Turn on the Show map switch. Flip the Show map switch (its note reads "A pin of your address on your public page"). There is no Save button here, the editor saves on its own a moment later, and the top of the page confirms "Changes save automatically."
- Check that your address can be mapped. The map plots the venue from your page header, not a separate box. If that venue is not a precise address yet, you will see the message: "Add your meeting address in the page header above to show a map." When you see that, follow the next step.
Fix the address so the map can show
The map needs a real place, not just a name. If you saw the message above, set a mappable address in the page header:
- Scroll up to the Page header. Find the row with your service time and location (it shows "Add service time & location" if you have not set one yet).
- Tap that row. This opens the Sunday service pop-up window.
- Search for your venue under Where. Start typing your church's address or name, then pick the matching place from the list that appears. Choosing a place from the list is what gives the map a pin, typing an address by hand is not enough.
- Click Save. The pop-up closes, the map message disappears, and the pin now shows in your preview.
What visitors see
On your live public page, the map appears as a Visit us section near the bottom. It shows your venue name and street address (both link straight to Google Maps for directions), your service day and time, and a map with a pin dropped on your location.
Good to know
- There is no separate address box in the Map section. The map always uses the service venue from your page header. To change what the map shows, change the service location up top.
- Pick your venue from the search list. A hand-typed address the map cannot locate will not appear. Always choose your church from the suggestions under Where so it carries a real map location.
- The switch saves automatically. Flip Show map and wait a moment, there is no separate save step for the map.
- The preview is a picture, not a live page. The phone preview shows the map, but you cannot click it there. Open your public page in a browser to try the real "Get directions" link.
