Add your spouse, partner, and children

Your family travels with you to every church you join. Adding the people in your household keeps you grouped together at check-in, shares event registrations across the family, and lets your churches remember birthdays and anniversaries.

Before you begin

  • You need to be signed in to your own Churchday account.
  • Adults you add get an email invite, so have their email address handy. Younger children without their own email do not need one.

Step-by-step

  1. Open your Settings. From your personal home, go to your Settings. If you used the old Family or Household page, those links now bring you here too.
  2. Open the Family tab. At the top of Settings, select Family. You will see everyone already in your family, plus an Add family member row.
  3. Click Add family member. A pop-up window opens where you choose who you are adding.
  4. Choose a Relationship. Open the Relationship menu and pick one of: Spouse, Partner, Child, Parent, Sibling, Step-parent, Step-child, Grandparent, Grandchild, In-law, or Guardian. If none of these fit, choose Other (custom) and type your own label, such as "Cousin."
  5. Decide how to add a child. When you pick Child, Step-child, or Grandchild, you choose one of two options:
    • I'll manage their profile for a younger child without their own email. Fill in their Full name, Birthday, and Gender.
    • They have their own Churchday account to send them an email invite to link up with you. For any adult relationship (spouse, partner, parent, and so on), there is no choice to make. You always send an email invite.
  6. Enter their email or details. For anyone you are inviting, type their Email address. For a child you manage yourself, fill in the name and birthday fields instead.
  7. Send it. Click Send invite for anyone you invited by email, or Add child for a child you manage. The person appears in your family list right away.

Managing the people you add

  • Someone you invited shows as Invite sent. To take the invite back before they accept, click Revoke on their row.
  • A child you manage has a pencil (edit) icon on their row. Click it to change their name, birthday, or gender and Save, or click Remove to delete their profile. Removing is permanent and takes them out of your family at every church.
  • A confirmed partner also has a pencil (edit) icon. Click it to open their card, which lists Shared churches and shows whether your partner already has a member record at each one. To end the link, click Unlink. You can re-invite them later.

Good to know

  • Your family is yours, not tied to one church. Everyone you add stays with you when you join or switch churches.
  • When you add a child, your confirmed spouse or partner is automatically added as a co-guardian, so you can both see and edit the child.
  • When you accept a spouse or partner invite, the two of you automatically share each other's existing children. Neither of you has to re-add the kids.
  • Removing a managed child permanently deletes their name, birthday, and gender. It cannot be undone, so double-check before you confirm.
