Accept or decline a family invite
When someone adds you as their spouse, partner, or family member on Churchday, you get an email asking you to confirm. Confirming links your two accounts so you are grouped together as a family. This article walks you through accepting or declining that request.
Before you begin
- You need the email invite that was sent to you. Look for a message with the subject "[Name] says you're their [relation] on Churchday."
- Linking only happens after you confirm. Nothing is connected until you say yes.
Step-by-step
- Open the email and click Confirm. The email explains who added you and how you are related. Clicking Confirm opens a confirmation page on Churchday.
- Read the request. The page shows a message like "[Name] says you're their spouse." This tells you exactly who is asking and how they described your relationship.
- Sign in to continue. If you are not already signed in, click Sign in to continue. If you do not have a Churchday account yet, one is created for you in the same step, so there is nothing extra to set up.
- Click Confirm to link your accounts. Once you are signed in, review the request one more time and click Confirm. You will see a "You and [Name] are linked" message.
- Choose where to go next. From the confirmation screen, click View family to see your linked family, or Go to your home to return to your personal home page.
Not the right person?
If you did not expect this invite or do not want to be linked, click Decline on the confirmation page. Declining is safe: it simply dismisses the request and does not send any notification to the person who invited you. If it was a mistake, you can ask them to send the invite again.
Good to know
- What linking does. Once you and the other person are linked, you are grouped together on every church you both belong to. That means you are grouped for check-in at services, event registrations are shared across your family, and your churches are reminded about birthdays.
- Invites expire in 30 days. If you do not act on the invite within 30 days, the link stops working. Just ask the sender to send a new one.
- The sender can take it back. The person who invited you can revoke the request before you act on it. They do this with the Revoke button next to the pending invite on their own Family page.
- A link that no longer works. If the invite has expired, was already used, or was declined, the page shows "This invite isn't valid." When that happens, ask whoever sent it to resend the invite.
- You can also accept from your Family page. If you are already signed in to Churchday, a request you have received shows up under Pending for you on your Family page. Tap it there to open the same confirmation screen without hunting for the email.
