Responding to volunteer requests
When your church schedules you to serve, the ask shows up on your personal home page so you can reply in a couple of taps. This article shows you where to find those requests and how to accept or decline.
Before you begin
- You need to be signed in to your Churchday account.
- Your church needs to have added you to a serving team and sent you the request. Until a team lead notifies you, a request stays hidden.
Where your requests appear
- Open your home page. Sign in and go to your home page (the page you land on at the web address
/me). - Find the Volunteer requests section. When a church has scheduled you, a section titled Volunteer requests appears near the top of the page, above your churches and events. If you have no open requests, the section is hidden.
If you serve at more than one church, every request is pooled into this one list, so you never have to switch churches to find them. The soonest date always sits at the top.
Reading a request card
Each request is its own card. From top to bottom, a card shows:
- The church asking you to serve.
- The line "Staff team requested you to serve as ..." with your role in bold (for example, "Worship leader").
- The event, shown next to a calendar icon. You can tap the event name to open its page.
- The date and time, shown next to a clock icon.
- Accept and Decline buttons.
Accepting a request
- Click Accept. The card updates to show Accepted, so you can always see what you replied.
- Changed your mind? Click the Accepted button and choose Decline to switch your answer.
Declining a request
- Click Decline. A small pop-up window titled Decline this request? opens.
- Pick a reason (optional). Choose one of the ready-made reasons, such as "Schedule conflict" or "Out of town," or choose Other reason and type your own note. Your team lead sees this when they review your response.
- Click Decline in the pop-up to send it. The card now shows Declined.
- Want back in? Click the Declined button and choose Accept to change your answer.
Good to know
- Your reply is never final. As long as the date is still upcoming, you can switch between Accept and Decline as often as you need.
- There is no separate schedule page. Your requests live on your home page. The old
/scheduleaddress simply sends you back there. - Setting your availability is separate. To tell your church when you can't serve or how you'd like to serve, open your church's page (tap its tile on your home page) and go to the Volunteer section. There you'll find Blockout dates, where you mark the days you're unavailable, and Preferences, where you set how you'd like to serve. Requests skip any dates you've blocked out.
