Print QR Codes and Stick NFC Tags for Check-in

Your church has one check-in code that works for every service. This article shows you how to get that code in front of your congregation so people can mark themselves present.

Before you begin

  • You need the Admin or Staff role.
  • Your check-in link is always https://churchday.co/c/ followed by your church's custom web address. It only ever does check-in, and it never changes, so anything you print or write today keeps working next week.

Get your QR code

  1. Go to the Events page, then open Check-in.
  2. Find the "Your check-in QR code" section. The code on screen is the one your congregation scans.
  3. Click Download QR. This saves a high-resolution PNG image (1,024 by 1,024 pixels) that stays crisp when you print it at any size, from a table tent to a full foam board.
  4. Or click Copy under "Or share the link directly" if you would rather paste the plain link somewhere.

Pick how people will check in

On the same page, the "How to roll it out at your church" section lists three ways to get the code in front of people. You can use one or mix all three.

  • Print the QR at the entrance. Tape it to your welcome table or mount it on a foam board near the door. This is the easiest and most direct option.
  • Stick NFC tags around the room. People tap their phone to a sticker and the check-in page opens on its own, no camera needed. Setup is below.
  • Show the QR on screen during announcements. Project it for about 30 seconds so anyone can scan from their seat.

Tell the congregation what it is

The first two or three Sundays are the hard part, so make it clear:

  1. Take 30 seconds during announcements to explain that scanning the code keeps them in the loop for service updates and prayer requests.
  2. Show one person doing it live on stage so everyone sees how quick it is.

Set up NFC tap tags (optional)

NFC tags let someone check in by tapping their phone to a sticker. This is a one-time setup:

  1. Buy NTAG215 NFC stickers. They are on Amazon for about $15 for a pack of 10.
  2. Download an NFC writing app on your phone, such as NFC Tools.
  3. Write a URL record and paste in your check-in link: https://churchday.co/c/ followed by your church's custom web address (the same link shown on the Check-in page).
  4. Place the stickers at entrances, on welcome tables, or on the backs of seats.

Once written, a tag holds that link permanently. Tapping a phone to it opens your check-in page.

Good to know

  • This is check-in only. The QR code and NFC tags always point to your check-in page and always stay the same. That is exactly what you want for a permanent sticker or printed sign.
  • Need a link that can switch destinations? If you want one physical sticker whose target you can change later, for example pointing it at giving one week and an event the next, use Tap & Scan instead. That system keeps the sticker's link fixed while letting you swap where it leads.
