Running a check-in kiosk at your entrance

A kiosk is a shared tablet or phone you leave at your welcome table so people can check themselves in as they arrive. It runs on your church's check-in link, and it works out of a plain scan, so no one has to sign in to an account first.

Before you begin

  • You need the check-in link for your church. Find it on the Check-in page (from your Events page) as Your check-in QR code, with a Download QR button and a Copy link.
  • Turn on check-in for the service you are running that day.

Step-by-step

  1. Open your check-in link on the shared device. Scan the QR code, or type the link into the browser. This is a plain visit to the church page, not a personal tap, so the tablet greets each person fresh instead of remembering one account.
  2. Prop the device where people can reach it. A stand at the welcome table works well. Leave it on the first screen for the next arrival.
  3. Let each person enter their phone number. The first screen reads Welcome to [your church] and Enter your phone to check in. They type their number and tap Continue.
  4. They confirm who they are. If the number matches one person, the screen says Hey [name]! Is that you? They tap Yes, that's me to check in, or Not me to fill in their details instead.
  5. A whole family checks in at once. If the number belongs to a household, the screen shows Who's checking in? with a checklist of family members. They uncheck anyone who is not there and tap Check in [N] people.
  6. First-time guests fill in a short form. If the number is not on file, the screen asks for First name, Last name, Email, and Phone number, plus switches for email and text-message updates. They tap Check In when done.
  7. The success screen confirms it. The person sees [name], you're checked in! with the service name and time. The kiosk clears itself after 5 seconds, ready for the next person.
  8. Skip the wait when there's a line. Anyone can tap Check in someone else to reset the screen right away instead of waiting the 5 seconds.

Good to know

  • The kiosk figures out the right service on its own by reading the clock. If two services overlap, the screen first asks Which event are you here for? so people tap the one they came for.
  • By default a service opens for check-in 45 minutes before it starts and stays open for 60 minutes after. Scan outside that window and the page shows what is coming up next instead.
  • The kiosk never signs anyone in as the person logged in on the tablet, so it is safe to reuse the same device for the whole line.
  • If your church added custom check-in questions, they appear on the first-time form for new guests only, never for someone the kiosk already recognizes.
