Manage which notification emails you receive
Churchday sends you automatic emails as things happen in your church, like a new expense to review or someone registering for an event. The Notifications settings let you choose exactly which of these you get, and turn off the ones you don't want.
Before you begin
- These settings are personal to you. Changing them only affects your own inbox, never what other admins or team leads receive.
- The Notifications tab shows up for admins, and for team leads who can receive at least one type of email (for example, anyone who approves expenses or manages the volunteer schedule).
Step-by-step
- Go to Settings > Notifications. The page is titled Notifications and reads "Choose which emails you receive from [your church name]." You'll see your available emails grouped into sections like Expenses, Events, Forms, and Schedule.
- Find the notification you want to change. Each one has a name and a short line explaining when it's sent. For example, New expense activity emails you when someone submits an expense, and Volunteer responded emails you when someone accepts or declines a slot you assigned.
- Flip the switch off or on. Turn a switch off to stop getting that email; turn it back on to start receiving it again.
- You're done. Each change saves the moment you flip the switch, so there's no separate save button. If a change can't be saved, the switch flips back and a message explains what happened.
Good to know
- You only see what applies to you. The list is built from your role, so you'll only ever see emails you're actually able to receive. As your permissions change, more toggles may appear here.
- Nothing to show yet? If no notifications apply to your role, you'll see a card that says so. New toggles show up automatically as your permissions change, so it's worth checking back after you take on new responsibilities.
- The Weekly brief has two switches. Whether your church sends a Weekly brief at all is an org-wide setting an admin turns on under Settings > General. When it's on, everyone on the admin team gets it by default. If you'd rather not receive it yourself, turn off Weekly brief here, and your teammates keep getting theirs.
- Turning something off doesn't delete it. The action or event still happens in Churchday; you simply stop getting the email about it. You can turn any notification back on at any time.
- Per-event and per-form emails have their own controls. Some emails, like the ones for a specific event's registrations, can also be muted right from the footer of that email. Those one-off choices are managed there, not on this page.
