Set up the Join form for your church page

When someone taps Join on your public church page, they answer a short set of questions before they become part of your people. The Join form is where you choose those questions, and you can even have certain answers automatically tag the new person.

Before you begin

  • You need access to the Church tab in your dashboard.
  • If you want answers to sort people automatically, set up your tags, groups, or teams first.

Step-by-step

  1. Go to the Church tab. Open Church from your dashboard, then click the Settings sub-tab at the top.
  2. Find the Join form card. It reads "Questions people answer when they tap Join on your page. Choice answers can auto-apply tags to the new member."
  3. Add a question. Click Add question at the bottom of the card. A pop-up window opens.
  4. Choose a question type. Pick from Short answer, Long answer, Dropdown, Multiple choice, Checkboxes, Yes / No, Number, or Date.
  5. Write the question. Type it in the Question field. Add Help text underneath if you want to explain it further (this is optional).
  6. Decide if it is required. Turn on the Required switch to make sure the person answers before they can finish joining.
  7. Save it. Click Add question. The new question appears in the list right away.

Auto-apply a tag from an answer

For any choice-style question (Dropdown, Multiple choice, Checkboxes, or Yes / No), each answer option can tag the person who picks it.

  1. Add or edit a choice question. Each answer option has a picker below it.
  2. Choose what happens. Leave the option set to Add, then use the Apply tag, add to groups or teams picker to select a tag, group, or team. Anyone who picks that answer gets it applied.
  3. Or take a tag away. Switch the option to Remove to strip a tag or remove the person from a group or team instead. This is handy for opt-out answers.

Edit, reorder, and delete questions

  • Edit a question. Click Edit on a question row, make your changes, then click Save.
  • Delete a question. Open the question with Edit, then click Delete at the bottom of the pop-up window.
  • Reorder questions. Drag the grip handle on the left of a question row up or down. The new order is what people see in the join flow.

Good to know

  • Join questions live in the join flow, not on your page. People see them only after they tap Join, so your public church page stays clean.
  • Save a set of questions as a template. Click Save form, give it a name, and it is saved for reuse. Templates are shared with the event question builder, so you can load the same set into an event's registration form too. Click Saved forms to load a template back into this card.
  • Preview before you publish. Click View form to see exactly what people will fill out.
  • Every change saves immediately. There is no separate Save button for the card itself. As soon as you add, edit, reorder, or delete a question, it is live.
