Edit a person's profile and contact details

Every person in your People list has a profile you can update at any time. This is where you keep their contact info, personal details, home address, and tags current.

Before you begin

  • You need admin or staff access to your church's dashboard.

Step-by-step

  1. Go to the People page. Open People from the dashboard.
  2. Open the person's profile. Click their name to open them, then select the Settings tab. You can also click the ... menu at the end of their row and choose Edit, which takes you straight to Settings.
  3. Update their contact information. Under Contact information, edit Email, Mobile phone, Home phone, and Work phone. When you change the email, an Update button appears next to it. Click it to save the new email right away.
  4. Fill in personal information. Under Personal information you can set a Nickname (what they go by), Membership, Gender, Marital status, Birthday, Anniversary, Attending since, Allergies, Grade, and School. Two switches here, Email and Text, control whether this person receives email and text messages from your church.
  5. Add a primary address. Under Primary address, enter Street, Line 2 (apartment or suite, optional), City, State, and ZIP.
  6. Manage their tags. In the Tags section, add an existing tag from the Quick add row, or click New tag to create one on the spot. Remove a tag by clicking the small x next to its name.
  7. Click Save changes. Your edits to the fields above are saved together, and you'll see a "Changes saved" confirmation.

Good to know

  • A few controls save on their own, without Save changes:
    • The Update button next to the Email field saves that email immediately.
    • The Membership dropdown saves the moment you pick Subscriber or Member.
    • The Email and Text switches save as soon as you flip them.
  • Everything else (phones, nickname, address, personal details) is held until you click Save changes, so you can edit several fields and save once.
  • Membership only offers Subscriber and Member. If someone requested to join from your public page, they may show as "Pending" until you review them, but you can't set that status by hand.
  • Text messages aren't sending yet. The Text switch records a person's opt-in so you're ready, but sending texts is still on the way.
  • The Notes section at the bottom is for private, staff-only notes about this person. Notes save with Save changes like the other fields.
