Writing an Email with AI
Not sure how to word an announcement? Describe what you want to say in plain language, and Churchday drafts a subject line and message you can edit before you send.
Before you begin
- You need permission to send email for your church.
- Start a Simple email first. The AI writer lives inside that compose box. See Sending a simple email.
Step-by-step
- Open the compose box. On the Email page, click Create email, then choose Simple email.
- Click Write with AI. At the right end of the formatting toolbar along the bottom of the message, click the wand button labeled Write with AI. A Write with AI window opens.
- Describe your email. Type a short description of what you want to say, for example: "Remind everyone about Sunday service this week at 10am, and invite them to stay for coffee after." Include any details like the date, time, place, or a link so they land in the message. You can write up to 4,000 characters.
- Click Write it. Click Write it, or press
Cmd+Enter(Ctrl+Enteron Windows). The window closes and the draft drops straight into your compose box. - Review and edit. Read the subject and message, adjust anything you want to change, then send it the way you normally would.
What lands in the compose box
- If your Subject line is empty, the AI fills it in for you. If you already typed a subject, it is kept, so the AI never overwrites your own wording.
- The message body is replaced with the new draft. Run the AI writer before you write your own message, or copy anything you want to keep first.
Writing from an event
When you start the email from an event, the AI already knows that event's details. You will see a note telling you it already has the event's date, time, place, and link, so you do not have to retype them. Just tell it what to say or the tone you want, like "Remind everyone it's coming up this week and we'd love for them to bring a friend."
Good to know
- The draft is a starting point. Always read it over and make it sound like you before sending.
- If the AI is busy for a moment, you will see a message asking you to wait a few seconds and try again.
- If AI writing is not available for your church, or a request takes too long, you will get a friendly note. You can always write the email yourself instead.
