Setting Blockout Dates
Blockout dates let volunteers mark the days they are not available to serve. When someone blocks out a date, schedulers see a conflict warning if they try to assign that person.
Step-by-step
- Go to Schedule in the sidebar.
- Click Blockout Dates at the top of the page.
- A calendar opens. Click on any upcoming date to mark it as unavailable. Click it again to unmark it.
- Blocked dates show with a red background.
- Close the calendar when you are done. Your unavailable dates are saved automatically.
How blockout dates work for schedulers
When an admin or staff member is assigning volunteers:
- They see a conflict indicator if a volunteer has blocked out that date.
- The volunteer can still be assigned (the blockout is a warning, not a hard block), but it is a signal that the person is not available.
Good to know
- You can only block out future dates — past dates are grayed out and cannot be changed.
- The calendar shows a count of how many dates you have blocked out.
- Today's date is highlighted with a blue background for easy reference.
- Blockout dates apply across all events and positions.
