Understanding Tags, Groups, and Teams
Churchday gives you three ways to organize people: Tags, Groups, and Teams. Each serves a different purpose.
Tags
Tags are simple labels you attach to people. Use them for quick categorization that does not require any structure.
Examples: "New Believer," "Baptized 2026," "VBS Volunteer," "Spanish Speaker"
Best for: Characteristics, milestones, or categories where you just need to mark someone.
Groups
Groups are for communities of people who gather together. They have an icon, a description, and members can have roles within the group.
Examples: "Young Adults," "Women's Ministry," "Home Group — North Side"
Best for: Small groups, ministries, demographic communities, and any gathering where people have ongoing involvement.
Teams
Teams are for people who serve together. Like groups, they have icons, descriptions, and roles — but they are specifically tied to volunteer scheduling.
Examples: "Worship Team," "Kids Ministry Team," "Hospitality Team"
Best for: Volunteer teams, production crews, and any group of people who fill serving roles.
