Custom Member Statuses

Member statuses help you categorize people by where they are in their relationship with your church. Churchday lets you create your own status labels to match how your church thinks about membership.

Before you begin

  • You need the Admin role.

Creating a status

  1. Go to Settings and select the Statuses section (accessible from the People page under the Statuses tab).
  2. Click Create Status (or the + button).
  3. Enter a name — for example, "Visitor," "Regular Attendee," "Member," or "Inactive."
  4. Save the status.

Common status examples

StatusWho it is for

Assigning statuses to people

  1. Open a member's profile and go to Settings.
  2. Select a status from the Status dropdown.
  3. Click Save Changes.

Good to know

  • Each person can have one status at a time.
  • Statuses are different from tags — a status represents an overall membership stage, while tags are for grouping and organizing.
  • You can filter your member directory by status using the audience builder.
  • Deleting a status removes it from everyone who had it.
