Understanding Member Statuses

Member statuses help you track where someone is in their journey with your church — whether they are a first-time visitor, a regular attendee, or an active member.

What statuses are for

Statuses are labels you assign to people to indicate their membership stage. Common examples include:

  • Visitor — Someone who has attended once or twice.
  • Regular — Someone who attends consistently.
  • Member — Someone who has formally joined.
  • Inactive — Someone who has not attended recently.

How to assign a status

  1. Open a member's profile. Go to People, click on someone's name, then go to the Settings tab.
  2. Find the Status field. Select a status from the dropdown.
  3. Click Save Changes.

Creating custom statuses

Your church can create its own statuses to match how you categorize people. See Custom Member Statuses for details.

Good to know

  • Statuses are different from tags. A status represents a person's overall membership stage, while tags are used for grouping and organizing.
  • You can filter your directory by status to quickly see all visitors, all members, and so on.
  • Each person can have one status at a time.
