Understanding Member Statuses
Member statuses help you track where someone is in their journey with your church — whether they are a first-time visitor, a regular attendee, or an active member.
What statuses are for
Statuses are labels you assign to people to indicate their membership stage. Common examples include:
- Visitor — Someone who has attended once or twice.
- Regular — Someone who attends consistently.
- Member — Someone who has formally joined.
- Inactive — Someone who has not attended recently.
How to assign a status
- Open a member's profile. Go to People, click on someone's name, then go to the Settings tab.
- Find the Status field. Select a status from the dropdown.
- Click Save Changes.
Creating custom statuses
Your church can create its own statuses to match how you categorize people. See Custom Member Statuses for details.
Good to know
- Statuses are different from tags. A status represents a person's overall membership stage, while tags are used for grouping and organizing.
- You can filter your directory by status to quickly see all visitors, all members, and so on.
- Each person can have one status at a time.
