Using the Block Editor

The block editor is how you design the content of your email. Each piece of content — a paragraph, a heading, an image, a button — is a separate block that you can add, move, and customize.

Available blocks

BlockWhat it does
TextA paragraph of text. Supports bold, italic, and links.
HeadingA section title. Choose from four sizes (H1 through H4).
ImageA photo or graphic. Set the source, alt text, and width.
ButtonA call-to-action link. Customize the label, link, colors, and shape.
DividerA horizontal line to separate sections.
SpacerEmpty space to add breathing room between blocks.
ColumnsPlace blocks side by side (up to 4 columns).
StackStack blocks vertically within a column.

Adding and editing blocks

  1. Click on any block to select it. A panel appears on the side with that block's settings.
  2. Add a new block by clicking the + button and choosing the block type.
  3. Edit text by clicking directly on the text in the preview.
  4. Adjust layout settings in the side panel: padding, margins, alignment, borders, and background color.
  5. Drag spacer handles to resize spacing blocks visually.

Previewing your email

The editor shows a live preview of your email as you build it. On desktop, you see the editor and preview side by side. On mobile, toggle between Edit and Preview using the buttons at the top.

Customizing block appearance

Every block has these shared settings in the side panel:

  • Padding — Space inside the block (top, right, bottom, left).
  • Margin — Space outside the block (top and bottom).
  • Border — Add a border with custom width, style (solid, dashed, dotted), and color.
  • Background color — Set a background behind the block.
  • Alignment — Align content left, center, or right.
  • Visibility — Toggle whether the block appears in the final email.

Good to know

  • Changes are auto-saved as you work.
  • Use the Columns block to create two-column layouts, like an image next to text.
  • Keep emails simple — most people read church emails on their phone, so a single-column layout often works best.
  • You can hide a block without deleting it by toggling its visibility off.
