Using Recipient Variables
Recipient variables let you personalize your emails so each person sees their own name, email, or other details — making your message feel personal instead of generic.
Available variables
Type these anywhere in your email content and they will be replaced with each recipient's information:
| Variable | What it shows | Example |
|---|---|---|
{{first_name}} | Recipient's first name | "Sarah" |
{{last_name}} | Recipient's last name | "Johnson" |
{{full_name}} | Recipient's full name | "Sarah Johnson" |
{{email}} | Recipient's email address | "sarah@example.com" |
{{org_name}} | Your church's name | "Grace Community Church" |
How to use them
- Open your email in the block editor.
- Click on a text block where you want to add a personal touch.
- Type the variable exactly as shown above, including the double curly braces.
For example: "Hi {{first_name}}, we are excited to see you this Sunday!"
Each recipient would see their own name — "Hi Sarah," "Hi David," and so on.
Good to know
- Variables work in text blocks and heading blocks.
- If a recipient does not have a first name on file, the variable will be replaced with a blank space. Write your sentence so it still makes sense without the name — for example, "Hi there" instead of "Hi
{{first_name}}" if you are not sure everyone has a name. - You can preview how variables look using the email preview.
{{org_name}}uses whatever church name you set in Settings > General.
