Creating Your First Audience

Let's walk through a real example: finding all members of your church's Young Adults group to send them an email about an upcoming retreat.

Step-by-step

  1. Go to People and click the Filters button. Or, if you are creating an email campaign, click Filtered audience in the audience selector.

  2. Click + Add condition.

  3. Choose a filter type. Select Group from the dropdown.

  4. Set the operator. Choose is in.

  5. Pick the value. Select Young Adults from the list.

  6. Check the count. At the bottom, you will see how many people match — for example, "42 contacts."

That is it — you have built your first audience. Everyone in the Young Adults group is now selected.

Adding more conditions

Want to narrow it down to just the women? Add another condition:

  1. Click + Add condition again.
  2. Choose Gender, set it to is, and select Female.
  3. The count updates to show only women in the Young Adults group.

Both conditions must be true (AND logic), so the result is "women who are in the Young Adults group."

Good to know

  • You can keep adding conditions to be as specific as you need.
  • The count updates instantly as you change filters.
  • When you are happy with the audience, you can save it for reuse. See Saving Audiences for Reuse.
